Styrenics joint venture Ineos Nova is to close its Belpre, Ohio / USA polystyrene facility by 31 January 2008. The facility has a capacity of 100,000 t/y of crystal polystyrene and its closure will remove around 12% of the company's North American polystyrene production capacity. In October, the company announced plans to shut down its 55,000 t/y PS plant in Montreal / Canada. The Belpre closure represents a further step towards achieving the USD 80m synergies target for the joint venture.
