| Alcan Baltek Corp. (Northvale, N.J.) has announced the introduction of AIREX PXc. 145, a low-density (9 lb/ft3) fiberglass-reinforced, closed-cell urethane foam designed for use as core in composite sandwich structures. Continuous fiberglass is evenly distributed throughout the foam in a proprietary manufacturing process, which gives the foam enhanced performance in compression, shear and bending properties, particularly when the composite sandwich is a flat panel used as a plywood replacement, says the company. The product is available in a variety of thicknesses, in both rigid, flat sheets and contourable configurations. |
